Nisgua solicitó enviar delegación de EE. UU. para “constatar la situación de derechos humanos en Guatemala”

La estadounidense Red de Solidaridad con el Pueblo de Guatemala, Nisgua, por sus siglas en inglés, solicitó a congresistas de su país enviar una delegación a Guatemala para “constatar la situación de derechos humanos”.
Jéssica Yarrow, coordinadora de Nisgua, dijo ayer que el planteamiento fue hecho el viernes en Washington, DC, EE.UU. Ese día se efectuó el foro “Justicia pospuesta”, donde se analizaron casos de crímenes de lesa humanidad atribuidos a Romeo Lucas García y Efraín Ríos Montt y a sus altos mandos militares. La actividad fue promovida por Constance Morella, miembro de la Cámara de Representantes por el Estado de Maryland. A la misma asistieron sobrevivientes de masacres, activistas humanitarios y representantes de Amnistía Internacional. Con la solicitud, dijo Yuri Casasola, también de Nisgua, se pretende que los congresistas “verifiquen” las acciones de autoridades locales en los procesos abiertos contra militares.
