NISGUA Staff The Guatemala Program Coordinator for the Guatemala Accompaniment Project (G.A.P.) works with the U.S.-based Coordinator to train, orient, place, and provide ongoing support to 7-8 G.A.P. accompaniers who act as human rights monitors in communities throughout Guatemala that are at risk of government retribution for their efforts to seek justice for past atrocities. The Coordinator represents NISGUA within the coordination of international accompaniment organizations in Guatemala with which NISGUA works. Contact: aconisgua[AT]nisgua.org. The Report on Guatemala Editor is responsible for all production
aspects of NISGUA’s academic quarterly Report on Guatemala,
including determining relevant topics, contracting outside authors for articles,

U.S.-Based The Executive Director is responsible for managing all aspects of NISGUA’s program and organizational functioning, which include developing, implementing, and supervising program and policy work as directed by the Board; fundraising and fiscal management; strategic leadership; network development; the coordination of NISGUA’s coalition activities; primary public representation of the organization; and staffing. The Executive Director oversees two full-time and one part-time staff members in Washington D.C., as well as two full-time and one part-time staff members in Guatemala. Contact: execdirector[AT]nisgua.org. NISGUA’s National Coordinator is primarily responsible for engaging NISGUA’s activist base in advocacy work, delegations, and tours. The National Coordinator creates and distributes background information on the current situation in Guatemala, including urgent actions and news updates; develops and carries out campaigns; implements outreach strategies to increase network membership; and shares activist tools to strengthen network legislative and media advocacy. The Coordinator represents NISGUA in coalitions, conducts policy work, and writes and distributes NISGUA’s bimonthly activist newsletter Solidarity Update. Contact: organizer[AT]nisgua.org. The U.S. Program Coordinator for the Guatemala Accompaniment Project works with the Guatemala Coordinator to recruit, select, and provide extensive human rights training to potential accompaniers. The U.S.-based Coordinator is the primary liaison with U.S. Sponsoring Communities who maintain relationships with at risk Guatemalan communities primarily by responding to requests for human rights monitors. The Coordinator is also responsible for working with a different Sponsoring Community each year to organize the annual G.A.P.
